Hillary Clinton: viewing it from the wrong angle
As I watched yet another snippet of personal attack comments issuing from Hillary Clinton, I was struck by how she was viewing her election hopes from the wrong angle.
What is relevant is not whether she is better prepared for the presidency than Barack Obama (her view), but whether this country is better prepared for her.
This country has gone thru great, non-productive political spasms during the past 30 years. Most of which involve the politics of personal destruction. First we had Reagan’s cohorts attacking anything not jumping on the conservative MX missile bandwagon. Jerry Falwell interjected himself with his Moral Non-majority.
Then we had the other side ramping up because of Bitburg, Iran-Contra, and the commonest of common thieves: Ollie North.
It swung back in the other direction after Mike Dukakis took that ill-advised spin in the tank. Then we had Bush41 throwing up at a dinner party after we read his lips.
The economy got stupid, Bush41 got his butt kicked, and BJC rode in to the shrill shrieks of the anti-dems.
It only got worse after Monica’s dress was stained and Newt put a contract on America.
Gore defeating himself did not help matters; it only encouraged those who live and breath the politics of personal destruction to get only more personal. So much so, perhaps, that even the administration of Bush43 was so distracted that they missed the obvious warning signs leading up to 9-11.
Remember that we would never be in a quagmire without I, R, A and Q. A “war,” it is claimed, which was built on fabrications, out-right lies and a motive for revenge. Dickless Cheney remains as ensconced in his cave as the murderous bin laden is rumored to be in his.
In 2004, the denizens came out to swift boat John Kerry, leaving a stench that did not dissipate until Don Rumsfeld got onboard to paddle himself out of town. Alberto Gonzales and the other Monica refused to accept that playing politics was a big no-no within the halls of the Department Of Justice.
And so, here we are.
Hillary wants to be president. Are we ready for her? Are we ready for 4 more years of bickering and outlandish personal attacks? Do we really want, or need, yet another negative political lightening rod sitting in that Oval Office?
Or do we want the most productive change possible - that of a great reduction to the politics of personal destruction and internecine Inner Belt crap this country has had to endure for far too many years?
Change your view, Mrs. Clinton, and change your strategy.
Or it’s never going to happen.
Ever.
