Not vetted by McCain, Sarah Palin gets vetted by the voters

McCain’s choice of the unheralded and woefully inexperienced Sarah Palin has been met by strong public criticism.

“McCain just insulted every woman in the country” wrote one blog commenter on another blog.

“She’s not who she seems to be” writes another woman who professes to be from tony little Wasilla, Alaska – a place which is more village than city.

“You libs are wetting your pants because she’s got more experience than Obama y biden” writes an obvious Palin supporter.  Dunno how he thinks being a “mayor” of a tiny place in a large valley of an even larger state, but one with a total population of under 800,000 people provides her with more experience than Obama.

“She’s smarter than Obama” writes yet another supporter.  The Idaho college from which Palin finally got her journalism degree must be really surprised that a person who has an undergraduate degree from Columbia and a law degree from Harvard Law School (i.e., Obama) isn’t nearly as smart as a graduate of their school.  Sarah Palin must certainly be surprised that some people believe she’s the smartest person around.

But Sue Williams adds to the discussion over at the AKmuckrakers site (http://mudflats.wordpress.com/2008/08/29/local-reaction-to-the-palin-bombshell/#comments at 23:20.37)  by providing indepth commentary about Palin and what she personally knows.

I’m just glad of one thing:  mudflats has replace the confluence as one of wordpress’ fastest growing blogs.  Mudflats’ commentary about the perspective of one Alaskan to the Palin choice garnered over 400 comments!!  It’s a great way to get rid of the bitter PUMA and NO WE WONT group that thought they could take over the Democratic National Convention.

  • It is a great content, very useful for the reader.

  • This is a pathetic pick. If the CEO of GE had picked his COO with one 15 minute meeting followed by another meeting the day before the pick… I think the guy would be thrown out as CEO. Terrible judgement and serious lack of vetting.

I think Obama will win with a landslide.

  • McCain’s selection of Palin was an obvious pander to women and insulting to boot. This strategy will backfire on the Republicans.

  • John McCain, in his first television interview since his shocking vice presidential pick, said that he saw in Sarah Palin “a partner and a soul mate.”
The “Soulmate” comment was totally inappropriate and extremely disrespectful to McCain’s wife, Cindy.

I have seldom heard the word “soulmate” used outside of the context of a romantic involvement and is almost unequivocally reserved for one’s wife or intended wife. To use it in the context of a VP to President affiliation conjures visual imagery that is disgusting. One can only imagine him calling her to the oval office to check out the assets, slap her on the ass, and comment, “Well you ARE my soulmate… right?”… eeeeeeeeewwww

I honestly [no really] think that McCain is suffering from mental illness. To use this terminology (even if he was thinking it) is unconscionable. Who says stuff like that [oh... George Bush rambles without thought all the time]. He is openly and clearly “coming on to Sarah”, it is uncomfortable to watch and can anyone say, irresponsible, irrational, unprofessional and disrespectful. More than any of that, he is using his position to try to get some “play” at the expense of the American people. How long will the stupid, puppet Republican base stand behind this behavior and worse try to defend it. It is really pathetic…

Bush was as crazy and clearly out of touch with reality as I thought possible for a public official with his ramblings, made up words, irrational and often incoherent answers to simple questions.

Now we get McCain, MORE IRRATIONAL and clearly deluded to think that we the American public will sit back, watch the dating ritual unfold, blindly accept it because what — we call ourselves Republicans. Really people. Really…. Can we please stop the madness. Gas is going up, war is breaking out, our borders are being threatened … and we now have Monica Lewinski being courted for our next potential White House scandal. Please…
