Those of us who pay attention to the details are aware that a number of conservative pundits, i.e., Billy Krystal, are not particularly enamored with McCain’s selection of Sarah Palin as his VP running mate. Some conservative pundits are down-right negative and hostile towards Palin. They, unlike McCain, recognize her serious shortcomings, and are less and less reticent to remain quiet on that score.
Now we have newspapers which are considered conservative speaking out on certain aspects of Palin’s shortcomings. The below is from one of the big Dallas papers. Cannot wait until the mainstream media starts tagging the McCain campaign for choosing someone who has not only been “palling” around and sleeping with an anti-American secessionist, but has also attended the conventions of the Alaska Independence Party !!
Dallas Morning News – Editorial: Palin’s Troopergate actions
disturbing“Ms. Palin would be wise to quit trying to spin her way out of this mess. It would be far more plausible if she admitted error but said she and her husband acted out of fear – perhaps misplaced – for the family’s safety. But to claim vindication when the report is actually fairly damning should give even McCain-Palin supporters pause.”

Yeah I saw Kristol’s piece. Damn dude. The conservatives have gotta be a little pissed with what’s passed off as the pick of their litter. Sarah Palin is no Buckley.

Buckley resigned from his column after the people went ballistic over his Obama endorsement. I love that the thinking folks are actually thinking these days.
Someone on MSNBC just hailed McCain as a really good man – said he thought McCain stopped his campaign from touting Ayers and Wright because he would rather not win then win like that. I doubt it. He stopped because it wasn’t working, he stopped because the Annenberg’s gave the “former terrorist” $50 million dollars…. and they endorsed him-as his campaign proudly announced yesterday.
I don’t get the Palin thing at all, they ran their own little terrorist state up there it seems. lol

And the McCain campaign stopped coupling Obama with Ayers?? Say it ain’t so… cuz it sure as heck ain’t here in pennsyltucky. Just look at that new McCain ad set up with the brown’n'white thumbnail panels… says right there in the voice-over… Ayers.

The report is only damning to former Commissioner Monegan and the investigators reputations.
The close ties between the two have already been identified.
Those of us who actually read the report and the evidence contained in it came to an entirely different conclusion.
First, Finding #2 should have been finding #1.
Governor Palin had the statutory and legal authority to fire the Commissioner. End of story.
She actually did not fire him. She attempted to reassign him to a new position – so he resigned.
Finding #1 was incorrect. There was no financial benefit to the Governor for this act. Therefore, her act of reassigning the Commissioner was not a violation of the ethics law.
Finding #3 should have been that the Commissioner should have been terminated for insubordination.
- He and his staff were refusing to assign a day trooper for the governors security. They claimed it would cost ‘too much overtime’ (3 hours).
- He and his staff were also giving the governors office grief over the scheduling of the airplane.
- He and his staff were using a disgraced trooper (Wooten) as a poster boy for the Alaskan State Troopers Memorial Day. They asked the Governor to sign a poster containing Wooten’s picture. She refused and canceled her May 15th Police Memorial Day attendance.
- He and his staff refused to take the governors security issues seriously.
- He and his staff were aggrieved because the troopers only got a 5.0% pay raise and not a 5.5% pay raise. That was the reason for their retaliatory actions.
- The conclusion that the Governor was not concerned about her security was false. They clearly and repeatedly notified their security and the Commissioner of their concerns regarding this trooper who had made a death threat against her father.
Does the Governor of Alaska not merit adequate security from the Alaskan troopers?
Does the Governor of Alaska not merit 1 trooper for security purposes for 1 day?
[Ed note: While I may agree that Wooten seems unfit for the uniform of a State Trooper of any state, I'm going to disagree with most of what you wrote. In fact, some of what you wrote is wrong as to the facts.
I have this question: if Wooten was such a concern, why didn't Palin in her position as governor present a bill to the legislature or enact an executive order which would have put an end to Wooten's alleged behavior? She did absolutely nothing to address the behavior in a constructive manner. What if some other trooper conducts himself in the same fashion in the future? What has she done to ensure swift and irreversible action to put an end to it?
That's right.
Absolutely nothing.]

Palin, is a celebrity, nothing more nothing less.
[Ed note: Palin wishes she could be a celebrity, but how pathetic is it that a comedienne can do you better than you can do yourself? Ever see clips of Palin as a sportscaster? Pathetic to the point of being horrible. She's got no future in the broadcast industry.]
