Begich victorious over convicTED Stevens in Alaska— UPDATED

Yeah, I know.  Not all of the votes have been counted, but with only 8000 reportedly remaining to be counted and Mark Begich’s lead expanding to over 2300 (compared to Stevens leading by over 3200 on Nov. 5), it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to deduce a clear and stunning victory for the Democratic candidate, Mark Begich.

Alaska may be full of crooked politicians, but Sarah Palin woke up the sleeping giant – the voter who absolutely despises corruption.

Here is what was reported by mudslide pike over at the mudflats blog:

Good-bye, Ted Stevens and the Bridge to Nowhere.  Don’t let the door hit you where the good Lord split you!  And take that traitor Joe Lieberman with you.

<i> UPDATE!!

Both locutus at http://carpedenim.wordpress.com and Msjoanne at http://tpzoo.wordpress.com report that major news outlets, ie, the AP, Fox and MSNBC are calling it a victory for Begich.  Here’s what mudflats has to say:

mkraker(16:43:44) :
“Begich is up by 3724 at the final tally of the day!
Stevens has not yet conceded. Begich has not yet declared victory.
We do not know if there will be a recount.

But if this sticks, we have just sent a Democrat to the Senate for the first time in 30 years.”

UPDATE!!   Begich declares victory!   Stevens lacks the balls to concede!!

Congratulations, Senator-elect Mark Begich!!
